Attempt number two at keeping a blog.... life seemed to get on top of me last time and before I knew it a few years had past with no blog posts.
I hope to be more successful this time :).
This post is just to introduce myself and my horses to you guys, so without further ado...
My name is Ruth and I am 21 years old.
Horses are my life, they are the one thing that keeps me sane in this crazy messed up world. I feel they are the one thing I feel I am successful at and I have no idea where Id be today without them.
Here's a bit about each of my horses.
This is Goldrush, hes a 13.2hh, 4 yr old chestnut, Kiamanawa gelding. I was getting paid to train, and start 4 wild ponies. Goldrush was one of them. He was such a sweetheart and I loved his personality. He also showed a lot of potential for my main sport (mounted games), and I ended up buying him. I've been bringing him on slowly, and popped him over his first little jump the other day.
This is Sophie, shes a 16hh 9yr old, Thoroughbred mare. She has been a broodmare most of her life. Sophie is still very green, but she has good showjumping bloodlines which is the other sport I compete in. Sophie is so gorgeous and has a special bond with me. She is definitely a one person horse and although she has her quirks, I love her to pieces
This is Spud, hes a 12.3hh gelding of unknown breeding. Spud is my little champ. He knows his job and loves it. He is the funnest pony to have. Hes my little superstar. Last weekend, we came first in the area pony club games champs, and second in the pairs. He also led me to get selected to be in the national team at the end of April!!!
Hes my little superstar.
This is my forever horse. This is Poppy, shes a 14.1hh Standarddbred mare. Ive owned her for 8yrs she is defintely my forever horse. We have the strongest bond. I love my baby girl.
I am currently finishing up work on the dairy farm, and Im going to leave the farm to move to town to work. I love the country dont get me wrong but the hours are long and I dont have a whole lot of time at the end of the day to spend with my horses.
Im also studying in an equine behavior course, after that I will move onto another equine course until eventually I end up with a diploma in equine.
Here is a photo of my partner, and my Goldrush. His name is Alistair and he is my rock.
